 | TSUZUKI『都筑 麻斗』ASATO Player Name: Sam Player LJ: sammywhatammy Email and/or AIM: sammywhatammy@hotmail.com/sammywhatammy Timezone: US Eastern
Character: Asato Tsuzuki Series/Fandom: Yami no Matsuei
Age: physically 26, actually around 100 Gender: male Species: shinigami essentials Appearance: Tsuzuki is fairly tall for a Japanese man, standing above most of the cast. His eyes are a deep and beautiful purple (yes, they really are purple), and his long, shaggy hair a sort of chocolate brown. Many describe Tsuzuki as almost "unnaturally" beautiful, though his behavior tends to ruin the effect. Usually, Tsuzuki wears a Western suit; white collared shirt, black tie, black pants, black shoes, black jacket, black trenchcoat. (Cheerful.) Unfortunately he's not good at keeping it neat; his tie is often haphazardly tied, his sleeves rolled up and crumpled, his jacket covered in cinnabon crumbs, his hair untidy and sometimes sticking up in odd places.
General Skills/Abilities: As a shinigami, Tsuzuki has a highly accelerated healing ability and is VERY hard to kill. As far as is known, the only surefire methods of shinigami death are decapitation and a magic that will overwhelm the shinigami healing ability, such as Touda's black fire. He's also THE most powerful shinigami, highly adept at fuda use, and able to summon TWELVE shikigami, and a good number of them the most powerful mystical beasts of Asian mythology (Suzaku, Byakko, etc). Tsuzuki is an excellent dancer, and specializes in Western ballroom dancing. He's also a skilled gardener and loves bringing huge bouquets of flowers that he grew to co-workers.
General Weaknesses: Tsuzuki has a really hard time resisting sweets. In fact, he can't. He's a hopeless glutton who loves sweets and food and drink to the point of being unhealthy. It's implied in the manga that he's a bit of an alcoholic. Tsuzuki is the most HORRIBLE cook. Anything he prepares is about as edible as poison (one character ironically states that "the shinigami's tastebuds are dead!")
Reality Description: It may seem normal at first, but unknown to humans on Chijou (Earth), the underworld is right underneath. Meifu parallels Earth pretty closely; the Japanese shinigami administration building parallels the Diet Building on Earth. The one big difference is that it's always spring and sunny in Meifu, with sakura trees constantly in bloom. Juouchou, or Hades, is the name of this place. It's a neutral afterlife, which acts much the same as living - the dead have residences and go to work, eat, sleep, the whole shebang. Heaven and Hell also apparently exist, though they have never been shown. Juouchou is basically administration for the dead, with all the bureaucratic bull to go with it. Within Juouchou, the small department of shinigami is the elite police force of the dead. They are the strongest (in magical or spiritual ability) and also the least-paid in the whole of Juouchou. Shinigami are especially chosen for their abilities, and are usually people who died before their time and therefore have many regrets. Enma Daiou, ruler of Juouchou, takes advantage of these strong ties to living and offers the dead person in question a second chance in "life." They are then given a new, stronger body; shinigami are required partners to keep each other in check and make sure they don't run off to take care of any "unfinished business." It's unclear how a shinigami stops being a shinigami, but there seem to be different option. 1) The shinigami finally forgives itself/completes unfinished business/etc and decides to "move on," 2) "death" in the line of duty, or 3) Enma Daiou overrules their decision and sends them on (being "fired"?). It's a shinigami's job to deal with demons and other occult occurrences/creatures, but mainly to usher souls that refuse to cross, and any other abnormalities in the system. Magic is possible, but generally only the dead (shinigami) have the ability to perform it. It all falls under the realm of onmyoujitsu, an ancient Japanese art, in some ways equivalent to alchemy in Europe's Middle Ages. Magic is mostly performed using ofuda, scrolls of paper with symbols of power written on them. Shikigami, mystical beasts that are summoned from another realm to do battle in the summoner's place, are summoned using complicated hand symbols and the proper incantation. |
